About the gemstones

Paraíba tourmaline

The neon blue of Paraíba tourmaline is one of those colours that seem too vivid to be natural. It comes from copper. The gemstone was discovered only in the late 1980s in Brazil, where the rarest and most valuable Paraíba tourmalines are still found today. Later deposits were found in Mozambique and Nigeria, and the origin is stated on the certificate. We select and buy these gemstones one by one, keeping only those that make us stop. If a gemstone has been heated, we state this on the product page. Tourmaline is a softer gemstone, so it is worth wearing with care.

Mohs hardness: 7–7.5/10

Diamond

A diamond is light concentrated in the hardest gemstone in the world. RIBAS Jewellery was born at the Diamond Exchange, and to this day we select every diamond ourselves, holding it in our hands. Two diamonds with the same certificate can look entirely different, so we buy not the certificate but the difference – the fire that a precise cut reveals. Every RIBAS Jewellery piece features only natural diamonds. From 0.30 ct, each diamond carries a GIA certificate; smaller stones are graded and certified by our specialists to the same standard.

Mohs hardness: 10/10

Care

Please remember to remove your jewellery before:

  • sleeping (exceptions: bracelets and stud earrings/piercings), as Jewellery also needs rest;
  • showering, visiting the sauna, swimming pool, sea, lake, etc., as salts and chlorine in water can damage the Jewellery or its components;
  • active activities (sports, household chores, gardening, etc.), as some gemstones are sensitive to impact and pressure, and precious metals may deform.

Jewellery Storage:

  • Avoid direct contact with perfumes, body lotions, hair dyes and sprays, or other chemicals, as precious metals may react to chemical cosmetic substances.
  • Protect Jewellery from moisture, direct sunlight, extreme heat or cold, as some gemstones and precious metals may change color.
  • Store Jewellery separately from one another, in a box or pouch, to prevent scratching and tangling.

Warranty

RIBAS Jewelery products are covered by a warranty of up to 5 years, inclusive from the date of product purchase.

The repair warranty does not apply if our jeweler determines that the Jewellery was mechanically damaged or improperly cared for. The warranty also does not cover lost Jewellery parts, as this is considered the customer’s responsibility. The warranty generally applies to manufacturing defects or flaws arising from the production process, but not to parts lost or damaged due to user actions. Nevertheless, we always look for and offer ways to repair your Jewellery.
